Each Box (or Shelf) is designed for specific types of birds, and the space preferred. As Nestwatch.org says, “Right Bird, Right House”

Size does matter! At least when it comes to the Nest Boxes style and entry.

No perches, we don’t install handles for predators.

– Branded sides for wildlife or bird identification

— Right side – egg sizes and descriptions
– Door Hole is sized and customized for a certain type of bird or wildlife
– No Perches (aka Predator Handles)
– Hinged Side for Monitoring brood
– Access to clean up after brood fledges
– Rough inside door wall for a fledgling to climb to the door
– Side walls have a small gap for ventilation (air flow) to prevent overheating
– The floor has small drain holes for potential rainwater that may get inside
– Made of Bird Safe Wood, as some finishes can be toxic to birds
– Hanging hole is pre-drilled for easy mounting
